T.V. Channels in westchester county?? Basic cable?

I have basic cable from my county....Will I have to pay for HD reception? Do most cable providers charge?

  • I mean, do most cable providers, whether it be on a large-scale or a county cable company, charge for HD reception? I've heard many things. I've heard some people say that you have to pay between $5 and $10 per month for HD reception, other people say all I would have to do is plug in my HD ready TV and I'm ready to go for free. If I were to plug in my HD tv, would I automatically receive HD reception for certain channels, or would I have to call and request it, and even pay for it?

    You can receive your local channels for free via a standard antenna. This would plug into your antenna spot on your tv or your cable box. If you wish to have other stations, such as Discovery channel, HBO, ESPN, etc..., you will have to pay the provider for those services.

Most cable companys, at least all that i know, charge for HD programming. BUT if you have a HD TV with an HD Tuner built in to your TV then you can pick up HD signals and watch your HD channels for FREE. But im not exactly sure what channels you can pick up but its free. If you want HD channels and cant pick them up i wouldnt go out and buy an antenna i would just subscribe to the hd package with your cable or satelite provider.
