How can I hook up my laptop (with no HDMI) to my tv?

How to hook up laptop to TV - Computer has VGA; TV has HDMI?

  • Here are 2 pictures to show what connections I have (first is of TV, second is of my laptop). I just bought a new TV; my old TV had a VGA connection that I used for video along with a separate audio cable... my new TV doesn't have a VGA port though, so I'm lost on what kind of cable I need.     Does the computer have HDMI? I see there on the right, something that looks like HDMI to me. (Unless it's USB, but it doesn't look let that to me). - 17R3W EDIT: "I'm pretty sure it's not HDMI, but rather a plug for an external hard drive?? Or that's what my brother thought at least. It's a different shape than the HDMI on the TV." Okay, then it's USB. Two choices: One - vga-to-component-cable (best solution) http://compositecable.net/wp-content/uploads/vga-to-component-cable.jpg Two - VGA to component box (more expensive, but it should work) http://images.highspeedbackbone.net/skuimages/large/A85-1222_main_image001_im.jpg
