What is the best cable for my MacBook to connect with my TV?

Is this the correct HDMI cable I need to connect my Macbook Pro to my LCD TV?

  • I'm not very knowledgeable about cables and am not sure if this one would fit my products and be sufficient: http://www.amazon.com/Mini-DisplayPort-Male-32AWG-Cable/dp/B003L18YG2/ref=pd_bxgy_e_img_c I just bought a Rocketfish Mini Display Port to HDMI Adapter and an Insignia HDMI cable from Best Buy, but am considering returning them because I need a longer cable. Those two products came to $60.98 so the one from Amazon seems too good to be true for the price of $13.39. Would I need anything in addition to it, or would it be sufficient on its own? It looks like it's a 2-in-1 cable so I wouldn't need both the adapter and the HDMI cable. How do you know if a cable is "male" or "female"? I have a new 15 inch Macbook Pro and a Sony Bravia LCD TV. Can this one cable connect them?

  • Answer:

with this cable, you don't need the adapter any longer. the differencee between male and female cable is not that hard, think about man and woman.. you have to plug in a male cable and you have to put something into a female cable.. ;) link in source, left a male cable, right a female
