How to hook up a sound system?

How can you hook a surround sound system up to a Vizio VW26L-26" HDTV TV?

  • My friend just won a Vizio VW26L-26" HDTV TV in a prize drawing and a surround sound system came with it. Now I tried for several hours to hook it up to the tv however did not succeed in getting the tv to have surround sound but the dvd player worked with it. I browsed the internet for ways to hook it up and found little help. Does anyone know a way to hook up the system to the tv so that we can watch tv with surround sound?

    Quite simply: you dont need to hook the tv up to the surround. hook the dvd player/ satelite box audio directly into the surround. Then plug the video into the tv.

With a Dolby surround system, the ONLY way you get Dolby Surround is USING the optical INPUTs on the Amp..... That means you need to use the OPTICAL OUTPUTS on your DVD and your Cable/Satellite Box.... The optcal output on TV sets ONLY WORK when the TV's Tuner is active......that's the only time. So it's smart to get a couple Optical Audio Cables, also known as TOS-LINK cables..... READ the Amplifier book very carefully to ASSIGN the Optical outputs to the proper TV DVD inputs on the amp.....you don't do that you make not get any sound.....

you need an audio out, there is no audio out on that model there for you can not hook up a surround sound directly to the tv, because there is not a way to send the audio out of the TV to the surround sound.

do u have the s-video cord pluged in along with the colored cables or go to menu and audio flip threw the option select fixed audio out and wait a second
