I have laptop and it has hdmi port and hdmi cable so it does mean i can watch tv i my laptop?

Yes and no. It's there to connect to a monitor with HDMI. It can work with your TV, but it can be buggy, and it some cases it just won't work, or your TV gets video, but no sound. People post here every day with some issue about a computer with HDMI connected to a TV with problems. My PC has HDMI, I connect to my TV sometimes, and when I connect, at times there's no sound, and I have to get into audio options and select the 'device' or my TV to get it to work. And once in a while, I'll get a high pitch tone that won't go away until I do something to trigger sound like a youtube video or something.
