How to hookup Time Warner digital cable SetTop box to tv?

• I plug the cable wire into the back of the box. I plug the HDMI cable into both the box and the tv......what next? Do i have to plug something into the dvd player? i dont see any "cable out" or w/e on the back of the box. The family member helping me hook it up keeps trying to over complicate it and its makes me wanna pull my hair out aha.

  You've basically got it. Cable from the wall jack to the CABLE IN jack on the box. HDMI cable from the box to the HDMI jack on the TV. Select that HDMI input with the TV's remote in order to watch cable channels. Change channels with the cable remote. (You might also be able to program the cable remote to run your TV--see the user's guide for the cable box.) The DVD player is best connected with an HDMI cable to a second HDMI jack on the TV. If the player doesn't have an HDMI output, it's just a matter of matching up its output connections with the same kind of input connections on the TV, i.e. component (red-blue-green video plus red-white audio) or composite (yellow-red-white). Again, select that input with the TV's remote to watch a DVD. If you don't have HDMI cables, they're not expensive and worth the investment. You'll see them advertised for $50 to $100, but you don' need those. A perfectly good HDMI cable shouldn't cost more than $10. See the link for an example. I bought mine at a local discount store for about $9.
