Which Panasonic plasma TVs are PC compatible?

Panasonic recently launched 8 new plasma and lcd TVs under its Viera brand which it claimed outfitted with?

  • V-Real 1,080p processor that can process full HD signal in its original condition without down conversion.Great! I thought.I have been looking forward to this. And I am glad I decided to wait when I wanted to upgrade to a HD TV I I didn't go for just a HD with 1.366x768 but full HD 1,920x1,080. However, before rushing out to buy my dream TV I decided to check professional reviews on Cnet Asia. I couldn' believe my eyes when I saw the resolutions of the plasmas only 1, 024x768 and 1.366x768 for the LCDs. I guess I will have to wait longer for my true HD TV. Why can;t Panasonic just give us real 1,080p? And why very few TVs with true 1080p being sold in Malaysia compared to the US? And why the manufacturers claim their TVs full HD-ready when they are not? As far as I am concerned true HD resolutions are 1,920x1080. I would appreciate if somebody can enlighten me. For your information, I am from Malaysia where only LCD tvs like BenQ from Taiwan have 1,920x1080 resolution.Contrast poor.

  • Answer:

What the PEAK V-Real processor do is simply allowing Viera High Vision 1,024 X 768p {42"} and 1,366 X 768p {50" and 58"} Plasma HDTVs to receive and display down converted images from Blu-Ray players which will output 1,080p resolution without degradation in picture quality., It does not mean they will be able to display actual full HD 1,080p resolutions. Panasonic recently released a line of 4-Full HD with 1,920 X 1,080p plasmas panels under the Viera PZ600-Series. These full HD include a 50", 58", 65" and the 103". All 4-models will be able to display and receive Full HD 1,080p resolution.

I'm from Singapore and have been studying on HDTV for a year. Hope my answers can help u. 1)Why can;t Panasonic just give us real 1,080p? Why only LCD tvs with resolution of 1080 has just started to release from various brands recently where they can be made a few years back? Reason being the cost. Just like the HD siganls can be sent to homes at 1080p, but why now the most at 1080i? The reasons are the same. Imagine 2 years back what would be the cost of a 50" 1080p plasma tv? At least US$15,000. Who wants to pay for that? That's why they only started making 1080p HDTV recently. =) [Sony 1920x1080 LCD Tv is out few days back, however, the review isn't out yet] 2)And why very few TVs with true 1080p being sold in Malaysia compared to the US? There aren't many 1080p HDTVs in the market at the first place. #Asia usually only import Asia's Electronic products. Because they are good enough. 3)why the manufacturers claim their TVs full HD-ready when they are not? Full HD-ready oesn't mean HD-Optimal. As long as it has at least a resolution of 1024x720, supports at least 720p and a HDMI input, it's a consider a Full HD-Ready. If u wish to know more about HDTV, u can buy a copy of "What Video", a HTDV magazine with over 25 years of tv reviews and its own lab n unique equipments to test the "TRUE" specification of almost every brands n models of HDTV that are on sale. It can hardly be found in Singapore, but I think Malaysia do have it too. here's the website of it, showing the Content Page of every new issue, letting the consumers know whether they need the info on the new issues. http://www.homecinemachoice.com/whatvideo/
