Where Can I Buy a cheap LCD TV in England?

I dont know whether to buy A lcd tv or plasma tv .i play ps3 for atleast 10 hours a day.?

  • PLASMA TV i heard plasma tv has less response time so games dont lag or there is no ghosting of images. plasma tv also has better picture quality but the downside to all this is that plasma tv suffers from burn in or phosphor burn from static images. i play games for more than 10 hours a day. so i am afraid it will burn a plasma tv. LCD TV lcd tv has no burn in problems but has a response time higher than a plasma. so does it lag when playing fast moving games.?? and lcd has a picture quality slightly less than a plasma tv. I WANT TO BUY A PLASMA TV BUT I AM AFRAID OF THESE PROBLEMS . SO WHICH ONE IS RECOMMENDED FOR HARDCORE GAMING. LCD OR PLASMA.???? please be accurate in your answers. thanks a lot for your effort.

    Go for plasma. It has less lag and deeper blacks (better contrast ratio). Another thing worth looking at is brightness - the average LCD is 450cd/m2 and a plasma is 1000cd/m2, so the plasma is brighter. Screen burn was more of a problem with old plasmas - not such a big deal with the new ones. They use various tricks like wiggly screensavers and they move the image around slightly to reduce the burn. You only get screen burn on bright stationary images - not sure if this would be a problem with gaming. Also older plasmas had a limited life, but the new ones now claim a life of up to 100,000 hours. Another thing about LCD is they use a backlight and this produces greyish blacks and the backlight isn't always uniform. Plasma is a bit more expensive if you want full 1080P HD - most cheaper plasmas are only 1366x768. I'm looking at either the Panasonic 50PZ800 or the new Samsung (either 6 series out now or 7 series coming soon).

I recommend spending the money on something more productive than a television. Sitting in front of a tv screen for 10 hours is not healthy. Sell your PS3, buy a bike as the guy above says.

ufo jim said most of it,plasma does run smoother and last for about 90,000 hours now so will last as long as a lcd or you can wait for the new led or organic tv's

The main problem with plasma screens is that they have to be regassed every so often, a bit like an air conditioning system in a car. This is a major flaw with plasma's. And the response time between an LCD and plasma is so negligible as to be virtually non-existent. So I would definitely say go with an LCD screen.

Well The difference between the picture quality of plasma and LCD is hardly appreciable,so I would advice you to go for LCD as in plasma the problem of Phosphor burns becomes very prominent after few months or may be an year(depending upon your use) SO when you are investing money then go for a product which serves you for a long time

has to be a HD LCD. The ps3 looks amazing on it far better than on a plasma,. and will last longer. Try go for around a 32" screen, it just seems to look better than on anything bigger.

With the increased quality of both LCD and plasma TV's, it's purely a case of personal choice these days. The problems that concern you are urban myths, plasma's do not need re-gassing and do not suffer screen burn, look at any independant website and they will confirm that. if you are going to have the TV on that much, than you should go LCD. although a lot of the burn in problems of earlier plasmas have been corrected, there is still way more of an issue with those than LCDs. also, LCDs cost less to run, don't run as hot, and have a longer life. seriously, dude, 10 hours a day? i love my PS3 as much as anybody, but you have to admit that that's kinda sad. you need to get out more.
