Answer:
depends what you watch, if fast moving ie sport gaming then plasma, due to the refresh rate. If you get a lcd and watch sport " lagging / ghousting " happens. which is an aftershadow. Also depending on the size you want, the smallest plasma is 37" anything smaller is a lcd.

hands down plasma is the way to go... like you i have been researching quite a bit. I have an lcd but the way I sum it up to myself and others is this...... lcd last about 5 yrs longer but... when you are talking about 25 yrs.... who cares? Also, the plasma is brighter and more vibrant, it has a much larger area of viewing.. like 180 degrees, and unlike the lcd, you can change the lamp in 25 yrs when it goes out. if you lose your image on an lcd... you gotta get a whole new tv....... go for plasma

I'm getting an LCD tv. I asked the guy at Comet which was better and he said LCD. Better picture 1st of all but he said something about if it stops working for whatever reason its a lot more hassle to fix a plasma. <3xx

A plasma has oil in it, and over the years, the oil has to be changed. Although a Plasma is cheaper, an LCD T.V is defintly worth the extra cash, as i personally think it has a better picture, and it saves a professional coming out to "Oil your TV"! Hope this helps!

LCD's are a liquid screen. Plasma screens are made up of a cobinaton of gases. LCD in my opinon is the best! Less blurring

I think you'll find that you can only buy LCD TV's up to a certain size - 38" I think, but plasma screens can be virtually any size.

The link below will give you the truth, rather than the misinformed, ignorant, wild guesswork you tend to see here. (Plasmas have oil in them that needs changing!!?? That's the biggest laugh I've had for ages!!)

LCD stands for Liquid Crystal Display Pros of LCD not much burn in longer lifespan on one bulb no glass on the front so no glare more 1080p choices* cheaper pros of plasmas better overall picture quality, contrast, etc. can be bigger brighter screens more suseptible to burn in** *now though there are still ten or twelve choices of 1080p*** plasmas at best buy. **burn in is what happens when you leave the same image on a plasma for a while it will "burn in" and leave a water mark. but fear not, because plasma technology now have pixel movement and all new technology to help prevent this from happening, now some plasmas are completely bur in resistant. ***1080p - current highest definition as a final not I would like to say that professionals and I both agree that plasmas are generally better for real hometheater, as in if you are going to get a good TV regardless of price, get a plasma. *******update******* Also there is the dreaded Rainbow effect, due to the way LCD's work, when their pixels twist and turn at high rates such as in action movies, you see the rainbow effect. now LCd's run cooler, and have a longer BULB LIFE however the potential overall life completely depends on the make. ****************update 2************** Oh my god, there seems to be a big dispute over this subject. I would just like to say hands down plasmas are better, and more expensive, hence why all the latest home theater systems that you see use either projection or plasmas. I have a magazine called home theater where they rate home theaters, all of them use one of the two. p.s to one of the people below me the reaso you think that there are only lcds on the wall are because they look nearly identical, and you probably didn't know that all the ones with glass on them are plasmas p.s again to the other person way down below the reason your lcd looked better was because it was 1080p, whereas your plasma was 720p or 1080i. now plasmas are coming out in 1080p. also the reason sony uses lcd's is because they are cheaper and hence more people who know less about tvs will buy them.

Don't be a fool; this question isn't even worth being a question. LCD is far superior to plasma. I had a plasma first, and it was alright. I then got an LCD and learned what a real crisp, clean picture was supposed to look like. I took back the plasma for another LCD. If you need proof, go to Circuit City and look. The walls are full of what? LCD's. Plasma's are on the way out because they simply can not deliver the stunning clarity of an LCD. Check out Sony's new 46" 1080p LCD. It's breathtaking. Simply amazing.
