How do I get out of my cable contract with Direct Tv?

Can i get out of a verbal cable tv contract, they say was recorded, but won't play it for me?

    A contract is only worth the proof that anyone has of it. Paper or audible. So if they will not (or cannot) produce the evidence, it does not exist - does it ? ;) I can say I have a contract with you... But if I say I have evidence but will not show anyone, how can I enforce it ? And no court would support bringing a contract out of the bag just in time for the case, if you had not been given reasonable chance to verify or challenge it before the case was brought. YOU needed to be given a copy - that means even if you did have a verbal contract, they needed to give you a copy - written or audible. Again, where is your copy of what you agreed to. There are also all the distance selling rules - 7 days from when you receive the goods or service, including a copy of the terms if there exist. Just ask them how they will be able to enforce this contract if they will not show it to anyone ? or have confirmed the details with you. That said, if you have received the goods and made any payments then you have accepted a contract and liability BUT not necessarily all the terms if you have not had any chance to read and review them in full for 7 days.

If they can't produce the recording, then there is no contract. Tell them to produce the recording or to piss off.

In the U.S., for most contracts, you can cancel within three days. All I can suggest is that you check to find out whether there is a similar provision in the U.K.

UK law says that you must warn someone if you are going to record the conversation. So they don't have a leg to stand on.
