How do you use a sony memory stick?

Does the SONY DSC-T3 need a sony memory stick too? or is it able to use different brands?

  • I lost my friend's memory stick. His camera is a SONY DSC-T3 Cybershot. Do I really need to buy him a sony (brand) memory stick too? or will it be OK to buy a different brand of memory stick for that camera? Because I heard that Sony cameras only use their own brands for the memory sticks. AND what is that camera's memory stick called?

    To date, only Sony and SanDisk make memory sticks. SanDisk makes theirs under license from Sony. Complicating matters is the fact that Sony calls every memory type a "memory stick." What you want is the "Memory Stick PRO Duo." That is the correct memory stick fo the DSC-T3. As long as you get a "Memory Stick PRO Duo" from either SanDisk or Sony, you'll be fine.

The DSC-T3 uses a Memory Stick Duo™ or Memory Stick Duo Pro™. Some other brands also sell those kinds of memory sticks, for example SanDisk. http://www.sandisk.com/Products/Catalog(1062)-SanDisk_Ultra_II_Memory_Stick_PRO_Duo.aspx Just be sure it's a Memory Stick Duo™ or Memory Stick Duo Pro™.

You need to get a Memory Stick DUO or a Memory stick PRO DUO; those are the only cards your camera will accept. that sucks. I have a erricson, the DUO PROs are soooo expensive. Because its a "SONY" thing not all companies have the right to produce it; thus SONY is able to monopolize the DUO.
