NO PICTURES SHOW UP ON MY COMPUTER?

Why won't some of the pictures from my camera show on my computer, while some of them will?

  • I have an Olympus SP-560 UZ digital camera. When I downloaded the pictures that I took to my computer, some of them will not show, while some of them will. I had about 300 pictures in all, and a good 100 of them just will not come up. When I try to pull up a preview, it tells me that there is no preview. When I try to pull it up in another program, it tells me that it cannot show or something like that. I'm scared that the pictures may be corrupt, but I'm not sure at all. Is there any way to retrieve these picture files, because I need them!

    Take no more pics until you've recovered the photos, take the card out of the camera. Here's some freeware photo recovery software that should be what you're looking for: http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/recovering-those-accidentally-lost.html You will need to use a flash card reader with this software. If you don't have one, get one, they're cheap: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_st?keywords=card+reader&rs=172282&page=1&rh=n%3A172282%2Ck%3Acard+reader&sort=price And if you're successful in recovering your photos, recommend after that you do a "Full" or "Low Level" format of the card (NOT a quick format). This should help prevent similar occurrences in the future.

Did your cameras batteries fail mid-transfer? Usually it is a good plan to download all your images soon after you have taken the shots. As you can see, waiting until you have nearly 300 image files can be problematic ... especially if you are in the habit of deleting images in the camera ... to make room for more .. .this is one of the ways image files can become corrupted. Follow Dory's thoughts and you should find you can retrieve most of your files.
