What lenses will fit an older canon film camera?

Bayonet to fit Canon 400D?

  • I have a Canon Eos 400D camera and My Dad has some lenses from his old film camera. The attachment style on his lenses are, I think, bayonet. I was wondering if there was an adaptor so that they would fit onto my camera. Any links would be very helpful. Thank you

  • Answer:

Almost all modern lens mounts are bayonet mounts. Your Canon 400D uses the EF-S/EF mount. Many mounts can be adapted, common ones include: - Contax/Yashica - Leica R - Nikon Pre-AI, AI/AI-S, AI-P, and non-G type AF. - Olympus OM - Pentax K Try: http://www.srb-griturn.com/other-lenses-on-canon-eos-cameras-334-c.asp

Hi, your camera uses the Canon EF bayonet mount, you need to be more specific about what kind of camera your dads lenses are for. The EF mount has a very wide throat which makes it relatively easy to adapt most lenses to it, troublesome mounts are the Praktika B and the Minota MD, most other classic 35mm SLR lens mounts are fairly straight forward with adaptors easily available on ebay.
