What's wrong with my digital camera?

Whats wrong with my Kodak EasyShare C180 Digital Camera?

  • My camera was working just fine up until 5 days ago. The lens is in freeze mode. It wont go back in. And when I turn it on, the screen turns white and then cuts off. I have tried new batteries as well as wiping off inside for residue. I have not dropped or spill anything on the camera. Can u help?

  • Answer:

Here are some troubleshooting steps that you can try that may (or may not) correct your problem. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty (or repair cost approaches that of the camera), they're worth that try. Some of the later steps do involve some risk to the camera, so carefully weigh your options before deciding to conduct them: http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html And here's a video summary of the steps: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AkEfnF6zVxc

The camera is broken. You could send it in for repair, but I'd just get a new camera - preferably a Canon. Kodaks are not known for reliability.

The problem with most Kodak cameras is that they have poor build quality and when something goes wrong with them (which seems to be frequently) it's best to just replace them. Seeing as the C180 can be bought for around US$80...a new camera is your best option. I recommend you avoid Kodak.
