Kodak M753 vs Canon A560?
-
I'm in the market for a new digital camera, and I'm having trouble deciding. I've narrowed it down to the Kodak M753 (7MP, 2.5 display screen, 3x optical and 5x digital zoom, image stabilization) or the Canon A560 (7.1 MP, 2.5 display screen, 4x optical and digital zoom). The camera will primarily be used for vacation/family shots, nothing extraordinary. I want to take nice photos, but I'm not going to do much more than point/shoot. I can get the Kodak for $115 and the Canon for $160. It's silly, but I'm leaning towards the Kodak because I like the colour options and it's a bit sleeker (and I like the price), but everything I've read says the Canon is a better camera. Will I be disappointed if I go with the Kodak? Is the difference THAT noticeable?

If you buy on the web, you could get a Canon A570 with image stabilization for $160.00 Probably the route I'd go. Fantastic camera. http://www.amazon.com/Canon-PowerShot-A570IS-Digital-Stabilized/dp/B000NK3H4S/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/102-5930006-8634507?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1194120366&sr=8-1 You could get the A560 for only $130.00 http://www.amazon.com/Canon-PowerShot-A560-Digital-Optical/dp/B000NK3NBA/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/102-5930006-8634507?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1194120817&sr=1-1 I would choose the Canon. I've owned several point and shoot digital cameras and my Canon A630 is the best by far. I don't think the reviews even tell the whole story. People who buy Kodak are happy the camera takes photos... People who buy the Canon expect more... Amazon has a pretty good deal going on SD cards too. $20.00 shipped for OCZ 60X 2GB. Picked up a couple for my Canon and they're working excellent. http://www.amazon.com/OCZ-Secure-Digital-Flash-OCZSD60-2GB/dp/B000RGI6IK/ref=tag_dpp_lp_edpp_ttl_in/102-5930006-8634507?ie=UTF8&qid=1194121150&sr=1-2 You'd want to buy some good NiMH rechargeable batteries and a charger for longer battery life. I LOVE that you can use regular AA batteries in the Canon A series in a pinch though. EDIT: The why is just superior optics and image processing. The sharpness, lighting, color, etc... are just superb on the Canons. The photos just look more "real"... more like photos from a good film camera compared to the photos from my other digital cameras. The model with image stabilization is a steal at $160.00. Also, many cameras (including the Kodak M753) are no longer including an optical viewfinder. I find using the optical viewfinder is the best way to insure holding the camera steady for no flash low light shots and it's also useful for taking flash shots in complete darkness when nothing shows up on the LCD screen.... or bright sunlight when the LCD screen "washes out"... I like how Canon refuses to drop a feature they know is important to photography in order to save money, shrink cameras without shrinking the technology, or go along with the trend. If you've got to have a sleeker camera... check out the Canon SD series. They're EXTREMELY small. You pay a little more for the smaller size and drop to a 3X optical zoom. They also use special rechargeable batteries. They only come with one and you don't have the option of using regular AAs in a pinch. http://www.amazon.com/Canon-PowerShot-SD1000-Digital-Optical/dp/B000NK8EWI/ref=pd_bbs_1/102-5930006-8634507?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1194124429&sr=8-1 I think if you got an A series you'd love it though. After printing a few photos, you'd know you made a good choice.

Yes, Canon is this time better. Many people are confused by DIGITAL and OPTICAL zoom. Digital is stupid and just deletes the side and resizes the left piece. Optical will zoom in the real picture. Digital will be very fuzzy or a pixel integrent. Optical you will see no errors like that pixel one, but you will see the original screen. So OPTICAL is better and 7,1 MP or 7,0MP is actually no difference [0.0MP till 0.5MP is no difference]. Buy CANON it's better. But the price 'think about it' look for the same product in different shops.

Kodak because I use one all of the time.

Like the others have said, the Canon is better, The Kodak will be easier to use, but the Canon will give you GREAT pictures. It also has an eye view finder so that if you are out at the beach and want to take photos, you just look through that to make sure your subjects are in the frame. Ever try to use your cell phone on the beach? You couldn't read what numbers you were dialing could you? That would be the case with the Kodak on the beach. But, in the end, the one that you find easier to use and to carry around, then that one just might be easier for you to program the right settings to get the best picture. good luck
