What is a good point and shoot camera to buy for under $200?

What is best point and shoot camera? Are new ones coming out soon that I should wait to buy?

• I am looking at purchasing the canon g11 or the canon s90. I like both as they are small enough to carry with me, like that they take good pictures in low light, and would love the tilting screen. While a DSLR would be nice, I don't believe I'd use it enough to warrant the higher price. I mostly take indoor photos, some outdoors, and mostly of friends/family/kids/etc. I am most interested in good image quality, the better the sensor, etc - the happier I'll be. Any new cameras on the horizon I should wait for? Any out there now you think I should go with? I am debating whether to buy something like the ones I mentioned now, or just buying a $100-$200 point and shoot, and investing more down the road, or holding off all together for awhile. Any advice is appreciated!! I should mention I do plan to stay around $500 or less on the camera, want a point and shoot, and now just have to figure out which camera would be the best for me. I'd also love to use the manual modes down the road!

  The G11 is a great choice, as would be the SX20 IS if you want more zoom. There is no point in waiting, there are ALWAYS new cameras just around the corner. Competition is fierce, the manufacturers have to dream up something new every few months, so we'll never "get there", it won't end. Those two cameras will give you manual controls and are a good way to learn about photography. They are still no DSLRs, and both have of them have limitations, but they are good bridge cameras. Learn to make the most of what they can do, I'm sure you'd be happy with either of them for quite a while.
