Where could i find a GOOD waterproof/underwater camera?

How to find/look for best digital camera?

  • Hi, I am looking for really good/best digital camera to buy for myself. I dont care about prices as long as it is worth it. I would rather get really good digital camera (even though it's expensive) and able to use it for long time. I am not asking you for which camera models are good out there. MY QUESTION IS WHEN BUYING DIGITAL CAMERA, WHAT DO I HAVE TO LOOK FOR? (EX:ZOOM, MP..) PLEASE BE SPECIFIC.. I ALREADY KNOW ABOUT HIGHER THE ZOOM AND MP DETERMINES GOOD CAMERA. ALSO PLEASE ADD ANY GOOD BRANDS OR MODELS OUT THERE SO I CAN LOOK AT THOSE AS REFERENCE? I want someone who's highly interested(know) in cameras or has career in camera field to answer my question. Thanks!

Decide on which features you want in a camera. Choose price, megapixels, optical zoom, storage media, etc. Then, go to the following websites: http://www.dpreview.com/ http://www.dcresource.com/ http://www.imaging-resource.com/ http://www.digitalcamerareview.com/ http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-cameras/ Once you find a model you're interested in, take the time to do your homework. Google the specific camera brand & model, then read a lot of reviews. Don't just concentrate on the reviews written by professionals, also read the reviews from people who actually OWN and USE the camera you're interested in... Compare several different makes/models... After you've done your homework, start searching online for pricing. Compare prices, and then also compare the customers' satisfaction levels with online retailers. You can even take the prices you find into stores in your area and see if they'll price match at all... The key is: DO YOUR HOMEWORK.

First, look here: http://www.dpreview.com I am a pro, so I don't know as much about compact digital cameras as I do pro level DSLR's, but here is a good start Fine a camera that; * Has at least a 3x optical zoom lens (forget digital zoom claims) * The best combination of features for composing images and shooting in low light (without a flash) is one that has the following; IS (image stabilization) and a viewfinder as well as a high ISO setting (1600 or higher). * Find a camera that uses the industry standard SD memory cards. * Li-ion batteries hold charges longer and last many years (they are the batteries the pro cameras use). * Find one that you can use the menu easily and that fits your hand the best. * Find a camera that has at least a 8MP sensor.

If you're buying a DSLR, only stick with Canon or Nikon. They pretty much the same. Once you pick either one, go to the camera store and play with them both. Buy the one that feels "right" in your hand.

"Higher zoom and mp" does not determine a good camera. The main factor in image quality is the size of the sensor. There are other important issues, but if you're looking for a rule of thumb for camera buying, that's it. Armed with that information, go to the review sites and read.
