What is the best DSLR camera for a just starting out photographer?

  • So I'm looking into getting a DSLR camera, I have done quite a bit of photography but just with the normal digital cameras. I'm supposed to be taking some SR pictures and some sports type pictures. I've always wanted to get a DSLR camera but just haven't had the money. What are the best kinds for people looking to take more pro pictures, but I don't wanna pay a ton of money! Thanks :)

    The Pentax listed below with a 50-200mm lens covers most anything you could desire in terms of pictures. I bought a Pentax K-x (now discontinued) without the 50-200mm lens and ended up paying more when I added the 50-200mm lens. The K-R is the current model., What influenced me to purchase this camera over Canon (I use to be a life long Canon user.) was the clean viewfinder with only one moveable focusing point, which I love. However more focusing points are available. Also I liked the idea that the stabilization is contained in the camera body. This makes older Pentax lenses, even many used for film cameras available to be used on this camera. Also makes Pentax lenses cheaper than those that contain stabilization in the lenses like Canon & Nikon. Good Luck! This Nikon D3100 is a phenomenal deal for non professionals, the rest of us people that want to take family and travel shots. I've owned DSLRs since 2004, starting with a Nikon D70 and then moving to D40, D200 and Canon Digital Rebel XSi 12.2 MP Digital SLR Camera with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens (Black) and Canon EOS 40D 10.1MP Digital SLR Camera (Body Only). Those are all excellent cameras, but this Nikon D3100 is better than all of those in one crucial area, the area that matters:

Without knowing your budget I would recommend the Canon T3. It is a great camera for under $500 and will give you all of the features you would need to take "pro" pictures. I teach digital photography classes, so I have seen lost of DSLR's and the Canon's are going to be the easiest to learn. There is no best DSLR for starting out. A DSLR is a DSLR, if you can control one you control all. You have the manual, internet, books, it's up to you whether you will learn it or not. If you don't want to spend tons of money then I suggest you get the Nikon D3100 - http://topdigitalcamerassite.com/reviews/nikon-d3100-review/ . This camera is good for beginners and it is user-friendly.

I would recommend Canon T2i/550D, T3/1100D or T3i/600D but first of I would suggest learning basics of dslr photography, so u would know what to look for in dslr.
