Whats a defective camera?

Battery goes dead within seconds of putting it in my camera, whats wrong?

  • I have a digital camera, it is a Sanyo E1075, its purple, it has a flat rectangular rechargeable battery. I didnt buy it new so I dont know its past history, but if I left the battery in it after I was done using it, it would be completely dead if i tried to turn it on later, but if I took out the battery when I was done, and put it aside until I was ready to use it again, when I put it in it would still be charged. So after a while of doing that and getting tired of forgetting it in the camera, now the battery wont hold a charge, everytime I put it in the camera it almost instantly goes dead again, when I put the battery on the charger it says it charges within seconds if it not saying its already fully charged as soon as I put it on there. I got another battery from a friend and its doing the same exact thing. Besides the battery the camera works fine and I really love it! Im just wondering if its the batteries, which I dont see why 2 would do the exact same thing.. or maybe theres something wrong with the camera causing the batteries to go mess up and ruin them.. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!

  • Answer:

Rechargeable batteries don't last for ever - they have a limited number of charge-discharge cycles before they die. Yours is dead - you need a new one.
