What is a good digital camera for kids?

Where to buy a digital camera for kids with high resolution?

  • I have seen some children's digital cameras on line and I have not found anything that produces good quality images. May be someone can suggest me a nice digital camera. This is for my kid who is going to be 5. Many thanks.

    The problem is there are really only, maybe, a hand full of Models of digital cameras made for Kids produced today. Well we gave my niece the Fisher Price Kid-Tough Digital Camera when she was 4 almost 5 , shes 7 now , and it takes decent photos for 4x6 printing or for my sisters face book, the best thing about it is that she can virtually beat the hell outa it and it still works, its been drooped so many times i cant count, even dropped in the mud i remember .. Fisher price has not upgraded the electronics on this model tho since it came out so its still a 1.3mp camera . But for something a little more there is a Vetech Kidizoom Plus. .The more slightly more expensive 2-megapixel model, the Kidizoom Plus, has some more features. You get a 2x digital zoom, a movie with sound, mode with 256 MB of memory and an SD memory slot. For about $60, I cant attest to the photos from the later but i am sure you can google both cameras and get photo samples of each. The Kidzoom Plus is suppose be as rugged as the Fisher price model and with new electronics, so i would go with that one. Make sure you get the plus model not the regular Kidzoom, because then its just the same fetures as the Fisher-price camera. My niece has the Barbie pink edition of the Fisher Price Kid-Tough Digital . The Kidzoom Plus Comes in all sorts a colors and i even seen a cool army camouflage one and a spider web design one. However if you trust your kid to be sorta careful with a digital camera then get something new & cheep and don't spend more than a 100 dollars. Before we got the Kid-Tough Digital Camera I bought a whole Box of disposable cameras with flash. My sister would just drop them off at Costco and have them processed and e-mail the photos. The photos were much crisper than the Kid-Tough Digital Camera. She went back to Giving her daughter those for a while till she ran out and didn't feel like getting more. By the way most of those other cameras people have listed for you are too complicated for a 5yo to use and it would be too easy for your kid to hit buttons and change settings without even realizing it .. Bottom line it KISS (keep it simple stupid) If you stay at a budget of 100 or less Dollars U.S. You will be assured a simple camera.

dont worry about megapixels. more mega pixels mean a more crowded sensor. a more crowded sensor means smaller pixels. smaller pixels mean less area too capture light. less ligght means less sensitvity. less sensitivity means worse photo quality. that said even with 8 megapixels you can make you can make poster sized photos! What i would recommend depends on what you can spend. here r my recommendations. 100-200: pentax optio h90 canon powershot sd1300 (if you cant stand the h90 look) 300-400: panasonic lumix fz35 400-500: pentax k-x 600-700: pentax k-x 700-800: canon rebel t2i 800-900: t2i 1000-1500: canon eos 7d 1500-2500: canon 5d mark II this is the one that the pros use) 2500and above: nikon d3s (8000$)

Do you expect your childen to be making poster prints from their snapshots? Probably not. For a 4x6 print you don't need anything more than 4 or 5 megapixels. You have two choices really, one is to just buy a cheap one second hand. If they break it, well it's probably nothing more than £30-40. Second choice, buy a proper toughened camera. They're around £200 new, but the best ones are shock proof and fully sealed so they'll happily take a swim in a puddle and take the abuse that a young child can dish out. The ones I'd recommend in this category are the Canon Powershot D10, and the Panasonic FT1 (known as the TS1 outside of europe).

try to find a cheap second hand one.. you are much better off buying a cheap second hand then a worthless new one.. if you look at it.. a 50-100 dollar digital cam new or a second hand for 50-100 dollar which used to be 200-300 dollar.. of course the second hand will be much better.

I think various company provides high resolutions digital camera like Sony, Nikon, Canon, So try to research in google for its prices as well as resolutions.
