How hard is it to get and use a surveillance camera?

Where can I get a great Surveillance Camera(s) with these specifications?

  • Needed Specs: - Mac (Lion & Safari) Compatible - 2-4 Camera Bundle or a single camera that can be connected to another one if two are bought - Indoors and Outdoors - Microphone for audio recording in addition to the video - Easy to record and keep footage of incidents on either my Mac or TV of both Audio and Video - Brackets or Mounts that can attach it to a wall - Wireless/WiFi Connectivity to my Airport Extreme and my Mac (With a good connection) - Good quality (day and night) to identify someone on the street from the second floor of the house Optional: - Mobile iPhone and/or Blackberry surveillance to watch the house when away - Color would be preferred but not necessary I know these may be very picky specs, but I mainly need the first four listed needed specs the most, [Mac (Lion & Safari) Compatible, 2-4 Camera Bundle, Indoors and Outdoors, and Microphone for audio recording in addition to the video]

As someone said already, your choices are high but Heeey.... I think it only tells me you know exactly what you want. IMO, a good security company with great business acumen would have several packages to cater for people like you. I found Lorex and Logitech to be great for what you want. I'd suggest Lorex though because they have more options VERY similar to what you want and you can also customize your build and get a cheaper bargain. ( exactly what I did) See Lorex nice Wireless package here: http://www.jdoqocy.com/4n98tenkem175364B5132866534 The link below is a review webpage for Logitech Package. It may be useful for you.

How's this: http://www.spytecinc.com/video-devices/surveillance-equipment/4-channel-dvr-kit.html Mac compatible, and connects to phone / computer. Only thing is, it's pretty tough to set-up; you might need to hire someone. A lot of these devices are not as straightforward as they claim to set up.

Jack try the website Ebay.com ( camera & photo category). Find SURVEILLANCE CAMERA systems---they have the best as far as I know-----

I think you'll have a hard time finding something without modifying some of your assumptions. Some of the cameras I've found can be operated remotely via web browser, specifically IE. However, there are IE plugins for safari, chrome and firefox. One of the cameras I found seems to work with chrome and firefox with an IE plugin. Alternatively, you could get a cheap pc/linux system and set it up as the network that you remote into from wherever you are. I like this one more. It seems to have more to it. You'll probably need an IE plugin for safari, chrome or firefox though, but you can remote in via browser. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003ZYSTYW/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=booforallsor-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B003ZYSTYW This wireless, with audio camera system is waterproof and seems to run on TCP/IP. It has an output USB VGA Video and can be recorded on HDD, USB Disk, ZIP, CD-R/W. Finally, it seems like it can be configured through a web browser for remote control. It says it supports IE for remoting in, which can be accomodated with an IE plugin for safari. It doesn't mention alternatives though. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004IJQEOA/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=booforallsor-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B004IJQEOA
