Why won't my videos show up on the computer?

Why do my videos from my camera show up as pictures on my computer? Please help?

  • The videos I've recorded on my camera can play as videos on my camera but when i connect my camera to the computer and try to play it it just shows up like a picture, i've even tried opening it with windows movie viewer it wont play! it's just a picture! my other camera never did that. any help? my camera is a Panasonic DMC-ZS9 btw :P thank youu!

    Well the pictures that I think you're seeing are thumbnails but if you're using Windows Movie Maker and the videos won't play, it's probably because your camera records videos in formats that Movie Maker doesn't support so you'll need to find a converter to convert the files into WMV files. If you don't know what type of files they are then just right click the thumbnails (Videos you see as pictures) and click on properties which should be the last option and it should tell you the format of the video.

Your video and photo folder are usually in two separate folders when you view them. Check all the folders I guess. :P

Don't try to play from the camera. Upload then view.
