What kind of digital camera can I buy that doesnt require removable batteries?
-
I have a digital camera which I constantly have to replace the batteries for new AA'S. I want to buy a new digital camera which doesnt require me taking out old batteries to replace with new ones. What kind of digital camera can i get which I can charge with a power chord so i don't have to buy 10 million aa's for when they run out? Also, I was looking in a catalogue the other day and the battery type for some cameras was a 'Li-Ion battery'. What does this mean?

Answer:
At least Canon Powershot SX40HS works without those AA/AAA batteries.

There are no cameras worth using that do not use rechargeable batteries. Most do not use AA's any more, but you could also invest in 8 or 12 rechargeable AA's and a good charger to save you money. Lithium Ion batteries are the other kind of batteries, and are used in the majority of digital cameras. You still have to take them out and charge them, and it is always a good idea to invest in at least 1 spare. depending on the camera, you will get more shots out of a charge than using AA's. In the DSLR class cameras, it is not unusual to get 1,000 shots, or very close to it, per charge.

There is no such thing a camera without removable batteries. Cameras are not like mobile phones, you either use disposable batteries, or batteries that you charge in a charging dock. Now with AA batteries, you could simply buy NiMH's they are rechargeable, and last quite a while. They are recharged in any compatible AA charger. The best of course are the Li-ion/Lithium polymer rechargeables, they last very long but usually require their own special charging cradle. These batteries are compatible with only one or two different types of cameras, so often when you need to buy a new camera, your new camera will come with a new battery.

Get rechargeable AA's, and use them. I recommend Sanyo Eneloops. Most digital cameras come with proprietary lithium-ion (Li-Ion)batteries these days, though -- the lower-end "compact" cameras can often charge up with the battery in the camera, but there aren't any "higher-end" cameras like DSLRs that can that I know of. This is a good thing, since you can quickly swap in a charged battery to replace a deleted one, rather than have to not use the camera while it charges the batteries. Peace.

All DSLRs have rechargable batteries, (Canon EOS 600d for example) I'd recommend that camera its what I use:) it's not a beginners camera but its not properly professional either. There are cheaper ones like the 1000d if you'd rather have a beginners type camera (still very good though my mum has one), Li-Ion batteries are Lithium-Ion batteries, they are rechargable and why they're called that is to do with the electrons moving around to charge it :) More info on wiki if you need it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lithium-ion_battery Hope this helps!

Well I don't know much about cameras but I've got an Olympus AZ-1. I don't know if you can still get them - I've had mine about 4 years but it's great. You just plug in this little stand, stand the camera on it and it recharges from the mains. No batteries to replace! I got mine off Ebay and it's so easy to use. I absolutely love it.

My canon G10 takes a proprietary li-on rechargeable battery. They run around 40.00 dollars but last forever. This camera came with a battery and a wall charger. I bought a spare battery. Many upper end point and shoot or bridge cameras take the li-on batteries. Most point and shoot cameras take AA batteries.
