How do I import photos from my camera to my computer?

How to import photos from my Nikon Coolpix L105 to my Mac Mini?

I already have installed ViewNX 2, Which I used to import photos before, But I can't remember how to import pictures now. I plugged it into the USB cord which I plugged into my computer, My camera screen just goes black and nothing comes up on my computer. PLEASE help! :(
