This is a very meticulous process dont screw it up!!!! 1. Place the camera on a flat surface. 2. Close the windows(NO FANS) 3. Take off the lens if its not already off the camera 4. Put a cover that came with the lens on the side your not cleaning 5. Clean the side of the lens with a solution or cleaner (recommend- Purosol Optical Cleaner) 6. Do what the bottle says or whatever it says I normally do this after 1 month since the cleaner is expensive. PS Good luck with the photography and hope i helped.

If the spots are from dirt do all the steps. If it's water spots or something similar that can't mar the lens, then start at step 2. 1) Use a blow tool or a can of compressed air to blow off any loose dirt. 2) Using a microfiber lens cleaning cloth with maybe a few drops of water applied to the cloth, rub off the spots off the affected area. Using a dry portion of the cloth, dry the lens thoroughly. Whatever you do, do not use any liquids or cleaner other than water to clean your lens. Many lenses have special coatings that can be irreparably damaged if you use chemical cleaners. HTH

You should be able to use any commercially available lens cleaning solution (sparingly) with a soft, lint free wipe. Kim-wipes are a good choice but hard to find except in photo shops. The delicate coatings mentioned above reside on the inside of the lens and are not accessible without disassembly. Eye glass cleaners will also work well. Just use caution and not a lot of fluid or pressure. If you still have spots after cleaning they are coming from a different source. Either inside the lens or in the case of an SLR it could be the mirror or prism. In this case they are only bothersome since they won't show in your pictures but may affect your auto focus or metering if they are really large. Maybe a camera repair shop for that kind of cleaning.
