Why won't my pictures upload to my computer?

Why won't my Canon PowerShot A460 won't upload pictures onto my computer anymore?

• I am rather displeased with this camera overall, but I would like to keep it until the end of its life. I've only had it a little more than a year. Probably just under a year an a half. The warranty was only good for one year and after that things started going wrong. Like it wouldn't turn on right or something. Anyways, the problem right now is it won't upload pictures onto my computer. It takes them just fine, but after I hook it up, nothing happens. It used to just automatically come up with a screen asking me what I wanted to do, but it's like a part of it on the inside died. The little blue light that comes on the 'upload' button doesn't come on anymore and I think that may be part of the problem, but I don't quite know.. Sometimes the computer says "Cannot detect camera. Please try again later." Or something along those lines. It's getting really frustrating!! Please recommend a brand of camera you've had good experiences with because I have about had it with this one...

  Sure, you can spend more money on a new Nikon, Casio, Panasonic or other camera that uses SD cards, but you can save some money by buying a $10 card reader and use it to copy your image files to your computer. If after using the card reader, you still don't like your Canon, keep using the card reader on your new camera ... it saves a lot of trouble and grief. Those of us who have been using digital cameras for years, also have used card readers for just about as long.
