    The camera is fine. The lens is fine. Since that is a Canon, you will eventually want to use other lenses. Check out the prices now. If you think you can afford them in the future, go on. If not, look at the Pentax K-x. The camera is excellent. The kit lens is superb. If you want to add lenses, you can use older ones which are perfectly compatible with your new digital camera.
