What digital camera takes the SD memory card?

External Memory for a DSLR camera?

  • I'm looking to purchase a memory card for my friends DSLR camera for Christmas. I believe it takes an SD card. In my search I keep seeing SD cards labeled as Class 2, 3, 4, and 6. What are the differences inbetween these classes? Some say flash memory, and others say secure digital high capacity. I don't know which one I should get. Help?

  • Answer:

    - All SD cards are "flash memory". - All SD cards over 2GB size are called "secure digital high capacity (SDHC)" - The "Class" refers to the speed class. The higher the number, the faster the card. What to get: - For DSLR, it is advisable to get a Class 6 card, since these cameras can make use of the faster write speed. - Although a large capacity card (16GB/32GB) will work with some dslr, it is advisable to get a smaller cards like 4GB cards (multiple cards, if you need) since if one break down or get corrupted, only data in one card is gone. - Look for a reliable retailer. There's too many "fake" cards out there that's no good in quality.
