Can lifecam vx-800 take pictures?

How to take pictures with LifeCam VX-800 camera?

• Please, I desperately need this for my family!!! I plugged it in and it works like a charm for chat video, but I can't figure out how to make it take a simple picture. Please help! Is there a menu or something somewhere that I am missing? When I plugged it in it auto-installed, and nothing else happened. Ten points to the first person who allows me to take pictures with the camera!

  Whenever I have a question/problem such as yours, I read the user's guide (aka "the manual"). It is amazing just how much I always learn from that. If that doesn't help, I check the manufacturer's website. They have descriptions and specs for their cameras, often have user forums, and the decent manufacturers let you download the manuals in electronic form. 99% of the time that does the trick. All the webcams I have seen/owned either used a physical button for a snapshot or did it via the software or both. Did you get a CD with it? Perhaps you just didn't install it because you didn't need it for basic video function. Or perhaps you could download a new driver/software from Microsoft. Or it may just be one of the more basic models that simply won't let you do it. The manual will tell you.
