What Is The Best Dslr Camera?

What is the best DSLR camera for under $600?

  • I am in the market for a DSLR camera, but it is so difficult to choose the best one! i would prefer something under $600 (I know you need more than that for a really good camera, but this is my first dslr). what brand to you recommend? and what do you think is the best dslr for under $600? also: im not a profecional or anything, but ill try to state the features i need/want -a fairly good zoom -a fast lens -a good resolution (obviously i want nice pictures) -not too much bulk built in stabalization would be a plus too! just try to find the camera that you think is the closest to what i need! thanks!

Okay these are your choices now for DSLR's under $600 Pentax KX Nikon D5000 or D3000 Canon XSI or XS Olympus E-420 or E-520 Sony A330 All of these are excellent cameras and will take great pictures. Really at this price point, there is not that much difference between the cameras. I will the list the advantages of each Pentax KX - Winner of entry level DSLR of the year for 2009. Has the most features of all the cameras listed here. Can be found for around $500 on the internet. Difficult to find in stores. Nikon D5000 - A step up from the D3000. A good camera that is meant to compete with the canon XSi. Goes for around $550. Easy to find in stores ( Walmart carries it) and has lots of support. Nikon D3000 - Probably the best camera for the absolute beginner. It has a built in teaching mode that is very helpful. can be found for $400 on the internet The same comments could be be applied to the Canon XSi and XS. Although the XS does not have a teaching mode The Olympus E-420 and E-520 are what I would consider good buys at the moment. I have seen the E-420 go as low as $300 sometimes. Some great deal can be found with Olympus products. The Sony A330 is a decent beginners camera. Sony is still trying to build up their support network so I would pass on them for the moment. You can find some great deals of their cameras though. In reality, all of these are good cameras that can take great pictures. Anyone will be fine. Personally, I like the D3000 and the KX a lot, but any of these camera will do you well. If yu want to spend a little more, you can get either the Nikon D3100, Pentax Kr or Canon T1i for about $699. They will easily surpass any of the cameras listed. http://cheapdslrprofessional.blogspot.com/

Hey, - Fairly good zoom. 90% of DSLRs come with 18-55 lens, which is very good - Fast lens. You gotta buy one with a wide aperture, that means fast. - Hah. Megapixels have nothing to do with image quality, sharpness and being crisp. Just think, when cameras first came out (digital), they had around 1 megapixel, but people shot and got great photos, cause no one cared about megapixels, it's what brands want to make you think. - You can't get a heavy DSLR for 600$. - I'd stick with Canon and Nikon, they're the oldest in digital SLR area. Here's a post called 'Buying a DSLR, what's important, megapixels, features, brand, price, quality and which one to buy - http://www.the-dslr-photographer.com/2009/03/which-dslr-to-buy.html Good luck! Ok i'll help as much as I can without bombarding you with technical jargon. Basically anything Nikon or Canon that fits your budget - BUT, on a DSLR the lenses are removable so 3 of the things you say you want are entirely down to the lenses, Zoom/fast lens and stabilisation are all lens features and normally stabilised lenses are not cheap. Resolution doesn't really matter unless you are printing your pictures at large sizes, a 6mp camera will give you perfectly fine prints up to A3 so don't get hung up on massive megapixel counts. I honestly think from what you've described you'd be better off with a bridge camera.

The two camera systems that fit your need WITHOUT the lens are the Nikon D3000 and the Canon Rebel Xs. Both of these are capable of super high quality pictures. Now for the lens. The lens that comes by default with the camera is a simple wide angle lens, which is an 18-55. If you want to get a zoom lens, you will have to pay around $250 to get the complimentary 55-200 zoom IS or VR lens. You will have to go lens shopping seperately

I second the Nikon D3100. It has many improvements over the older Nikon D3000. With the holidays approaching, you should be able to catch a deal on the Nikon D3100 that includes a lens, and is close to your budget.
