Image quality from the printer is determined by the printer's settings, and the image file itself. Just remember to print at least at 200dpi. You won't get a decent hard copy with a crappy image. A good way to figure this out is: Say you want an 8" x 10" print. At 200dpi, your image must be 1600 pixels by 2000 pixels (8 x 200, and 10 x 200). As far as what you see on your monitor, your display settings must be off. Also, for optimum results, calibrate your monitor.

HD is a video resolution term. There is no such thing as a HD photos. There could be many reasons why your photos do not look good on your computer. Without telling us what about it looks bad, or even what kind of camera you have, it's impossible for us to help.

HD is a video standard. For printing pictures, get a photo printer and use photo paper. Picture quality depends on exposure quality which in turn depends on user ability. ;)

As stated below, HD is movie definition and not a picture definition. To answer your question, the best results and cheapest option is to select the pictures that you like and have them printed in a photo lab. If you are printing at home on a inkjet printer, by the time you factor in the cost of the printer and the special photographic paper and the ink, it is far cheaper to have a lab print the photos. Good luck

Are you using the maximum resolution setting for your pictures? Many people use the setting that gives the most pictures for the memory card installed in the camera. This the exact opposite of what you should be doing. Use the setting that yields the LEAST number of pictures for the memory card installed in the camera!
