which camera lens is better: EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens or the EF 50mm f/1.8 II Camera Lens which is better, what are the differences? im interested in buying camera that comes with the EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens but would it be pointless to get the EF 50mm f/1.8 II Camera Lens?

Answer:
They are both Canon lenses so are both better ... what I mean to say, depending upon your needs, they are both good choices. The 50 mm f/1.8 is a fine portrait lens, but that is about it. The new 18-55 IS is an excellent general lens that will provide you with the coverage necessary for shooting landscapes, interiors, groups and portraits. Suggestion? Buy the 18-55 mm first and later buy the 50 mm when you can afford it.
