Are cheap 1080p video cameras worth it?

DSLR With 1080p video?

  • Can someone point me to a DSLR camera which will also shoot 1080p video? I am getting into photography but I also love taking videos. At the moment I have a very old Canon EOS D300 which my uncle gave me. Although it is good for photos it cannot take photos and has a very small screen. I don't know if any EOS cameras do video but if there is one that does please tell me because I have a Sigma zoom lens that is for EOS cameras. I'm looking for something relatively cheap (£200/300-ish) as I am only 13 and I will need to save up a lot :P Thanks, Nick

    for 300 pounds there aint many dslr with 1080p, most will be 720p. I use 720p and it still looks really good. Ifyou really like video than get a dedicated video camera.

The 300D was the first entry level dSLR camera made by Canon. It does NOT have a video feature, nor does it have live view. You are going to have to use this fine camera like everyone else. Look through the cameras viewfinder to compose and determine the correct exposure. The first Canon entry level camera with a Full HD video feature is the 550D (the 500D shots 1080p at a weird 20 fps) The 550D costs about £440 on Amazon UK, for just the camera body. Add another £80 for a Canon 50 mm f/1.8 lens

All of the current EOS cameras shoot full HD video. Something you could have quickly confirmed by looking at the Canon website.

There are a lot of Canons out there which have video these days. The 1100D is the cheapest new camera with this capability, however this may be beyond your £300 budget, although you may wish to look for a second hand version. The 500D should be relatively inexpensive second hand these days, but will still be pushing close to £300.

Yup, better start saving. The cheapest right now with 1080 is about $600 - the Canon 500D. I own one and it's an excellent camera.
