Is buy.com a reputable website??? have you ever bought something on this website?

• the canon xs is around 200 dollars cheaper in this website. the prices are amazing but ive never heard about it until today so i dont know if i should buy something there. ive heard of best buy, circuit city, radio shack, and all that so i would trust them to deliver my items safely but buy.com is so new to me.... have any of you bought anything in buy.com?? also, why is it so cheap? i don't want to invest a heap of money in a nice camera and end up disappointed because it is a little damaged or anything...

Beware of prices that are so much lower than the competition. Often a low price will indicate the camera is a "Gray Market" camera. A "Gray Market" camera is one that is imported by a reseller who is not an authorized importer. These resellers buy wherever they find the cheapest price, import the items and then sell them at a low price. Often the consumer thinks they are getting a good deal until the item needs warranty work. If the camera you're thinking about buying is a "Gray Market" camera and 6 months from now it needs service, Canon USA will not service it - even if you offer to pay. They will politely tell you to have it serviced in the country of origin. If you have to ship your camera to Hong Kong or Dubai for service it will likely be gone for months.
