Why do pictures not transfer when I forward?

When i transfer pictures from my camera to my computer they dont come out same hight quality, why?

  • I have a Canon sd980 is, 12.1 mp, HD videos, LCD screen. They come out amazing on the camera, but the quality seems to drop when i upload them to my computer and then to sites such as Facebook. Do i need a better wire to transfer them by? Or a memory card? And a link to a good wire and other stuff which would help would be nice! Thanks. God bless!

  • Answer:

It seems that you are 1) tying to compare the image on a tiny camera LCD with the relatively giant computer monitor and 2) are unaware that some social networks like Facebook reduce the quality of the images to prevent huge files from overburdening their systems. Your memory card records exactly what you tell it to. If you shoot at low resolution, the images will be low res. If you have your camera set to it highest resolution, it will save the images at those same resolution. NO USB cord will degrade your images when you transfer them from your memory card. You can save some time by using a card reader instead of a cord attached to your camera. You will also avoid having the battery in your camera failing mid transfer, especially if you have a huge memory card.
