What UK 4x4 suv type cars actually work off road too? E.g. I am thinking of things like Range Rover, Land Rover, Mitsubishi Shogun, Toyota Rav4, Jeep etc...

When you say "off-road" are you referring to "off pavement- on gravel" or are you thinking something more rugged? First, both Rovers are great, as well as the JK or TJ Jeep, you have two different vehicles there. Each fits a different slot. Toyota Land-cruiser is good, but it just doesn't have the refinement of it's chief rival, the Rover.
