    2 road tests i have read on the shelby.....clearly point out it handles better than the camaro (plus it looks better)..... and for 2010 mustang has announced there will be a shelby gt 500KR, that will be running 725 HP.....that puts it in the same league (faster than) a corvette ZR1.... latest review of the new shelby KR did the 1/4 mile at 10.8, 134mph...in street trim! they will also have available a detuned option running 605.... great to have a mustang "ferrari killer"............at a fraction of the price in 03 ford terminated gm with the 03 and 04 cobra(terminator series).........looks like gm will be terminated again. cheers 04 cobra

Well, the Camaro is actually the direct competitor for the Normal Mustang GT, so of course the GT500 would be a bit quicker. But I would choose the Chevy Camaro SS. It has the race proven Corvette derived engine. It looks faster. It has a nicer and more updated interior design.

the shelby will win by a little bit, but talk about mustang gt vs camaro ss then camaro will destroy it, gm will probaly not bring the Z28 back, but if they do then it will be quicker then the shelby, because the camaro ss is almost as quick as the shelby anyways, camaro most of the time been quicker then mustangs, mustangs are just built mainly for show offs, they really dont got great horsepower either, but ill go with camaro here.

For me it's not close cuz I'm a mustang fan but really though the new gt500 is soo nice . 540 hp is awsome and besides I read in motortrend that gm prob won't be able to get the z28 into production.

you can't compare the 2, plus there is no Z28 SS, both of those are performance packages so you got to have one or the other, RS is the appearance package that you can add to either a Z28 or SS, so you either have a base V6, base V6 with RS which would just be called an RS, have an SS or an RS SS, and by the way there will be no Z28 options, you either get the base V6 or an SS, but an SS will beat the mustang GT. hell the V6 camaro only has a few HP less than the V8 GT, mustang GTs have always been underpowered, the camaro SSs have 426 HP, the mustang GT has about 100 HP less, so you got to compare the camaro SS and mustang GT, not the GT500 shelby, so of course a GT500 will be a stock camaro SS, thats like putting a camaro SS against a stock ford taurus, a mustang GT500 is really in the class of a base model corvette not a camaro SS so its not a fair fight, but put a GT500 against a Z06 vette and see the vette smoke the stang and don't even get me started on the ZR1 vette but the ZR1 is more of a super car way above any mustang oh and also ford did need a first bailout, they're just not as bad off as GM or chrysler so they don't need a 2nd one that GM and chrysler is asking for, and to be honest i see a hell of a lot more GMs on the road than fords, so maybe the reason ford ain't that bad off is because fords don't last as long and they have to keep buying new
