Why is the Ferrari FXX not street legal?

McLaren F1 Vs Ferrari FXX?

  • I always thought the Ferrari FXX was an ugly-looking thing. A bit Batman-ish... that is until I saw Stig punt one round the TG test track last week in what can only be described as a ****-off-a-stick fashion. Obviously, those who watched the show will know that he was unmasked as Michael Schumacher, and after some post-show research (via Wikipedia) it was revealed that the black FXX used was Schumacher's own car - no doubt a ridiculously generous retirement gift from his employers. Anyways, this week's show (or last week's - this has gone all complicated now, but you get me) saw the Veyron slug it out with the Mclaren F1. Disappointing to see that Stig didn't throw that round the track as I'm sure it'd put in a time close to that of the FXX. Which do you think would be quickest: FXX or F1? And here's the FXX Vs Schumacher Vs TG test track Vs slick tyres Vs dry road. Perfect ingredients for eye-popping speed... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8qrSjVXMkpg

  • Answer:

The FXX, absolutely no contest. The F1 is too outdated to be any kind of competition for Ferrari's track star. The FXX wasn't a "retirement gift," by the way. Schumacher was given the opportunity to own the car--BEFORE he retired--because of his long association with Ferrari, his driving prowess, and the invaluable input Ferrari knew they'd receive if Schumie were behind the wheel. Schumacher was given the car because he is the elite of the elite among both Ferrari drivers and owners, notice not many other former Ferrari drivers ranked that distinction. Admittedly his FXX is more customized than the others, but that's largely aesthetics.

My guess would be the FXX. It is newer and has newer technology and a newer suspension for better handling. But I like the McLaren F1 more.

1: Schumacher is not the stig. It was just a fun way to introduce him as their guest in response to all of the newspaper and internet chatter about the identify of The Stig. 2) The FXX was not a "gift." The FXX is designed and tuned to Schumacher's specs. That all black paint job is simply to identify his tester from the others. 3) As for your question, if they had the same tires, it's all a question of power-to-weight. Since the speeds are all THAT high on the TG track where a CoD matters all that much, the hp/lb is the number that matters most. However...the FXX does have the carbon ceramic brakes...on a track with turns, brakes are just as important as power...hmm...good questions. Wish I knew the answer *laughs*

Straight Line - McLaren Track - Ferrari Fxx

✌Paul✌

fxx would win around the track, and probably straight line. Theres no doubt the FXX is an obscenely fast car BUT the mclaren has achieved so much considering it was made in the early 90s or something?!?

As fast as the F1 is, I think the FXX would be faster. It's much newer (better technology) and quite a bit more powerful.

Christopher

the fxx was using slick tyres to go around the track which made it the fastest car,, but rules are rules no slick tyres are allowed and if it did have normal road tyres its time would be a lot slower so if there was a race between the 2 i would say the mclaren would be faster,

In my mind there is no choice for the McLaren the best supercar- ever. I could drive it on the road if I had £1.6m whereas I could only drive the FXX when Ferrari delivered it to a track for me. The F1 is a car of such infinite beauty that I suspect I would have to sleep with it.

You have to remember this important point. The Mclaren F1 was designed and built as a road car first and foremost. You will also never see Mclaren build another F1 so in essence the F1 is the more exclusive car. There will never be anymore ever. Ferrari will produce something better than the FFX they always have done this. Remember the 288 which lead to the evolution which led to the F40/50 and Enzo. As an individual model the FFX will stay rare but it is not the Pinnacle of what the company can do like the F1 was and is. My heart is with the F1.
