2000 Jeep Cherokee Laredo, V6- 85,800 miles.....OR 2001 Mazda Tribute LX, V6- 81,000 miles. Looking for an answer from owners or people who may have had bad experiences with either one of these SUVs.........

Answer:
i own a repair shop and both of those vehicles are a good choice for ones to buy,but on this one id have to go with the Laredo, ,i have some customers who own these ,and they really like them,no problems yet from them,i do a lot of maintenance work on a lot of those, and all of them i work on have well over 100 k on them, and seem to be doing really good for the mileage, the only problems i have seen one give was bad paint, and you can get that on any vehicle, people are saying the jeeps aren't what they used to be,and there right, there actually better now than they was 10 years ago,but that would be my choice ,because i have worked on both vehicles before, and the jeep is much easier to keep up than the Mazda is,and parts are a lot cheaper also,,what you can do is drive one of each, and then see which one you like the best, you may wind up liking the Mazda a lot better, but you,ll never know until you do drive one, i have had a lot of Mazda's with bad water pumps on them, they seem to like to have new water pumps about every 50-60- thousand miles for some reason, that's all i can tell you about either one,i work on a lot of each of those, and when either one tears up usually its more from neglect, than anything else, good luck ,i hope this help,s.

FYI: The Tribute has the heart and soul of the Ford Escape.

My friends have jeeps, cherokee's and they never have any problems with them. My one friend swears by his jeep. My mom had a wrangler in 1990, was a nice jeep, very reliable. Jeeps are built with good quality.

The Mazda will ride better, get better mileage, and will hold up better. Jeeps are not what they used to be years ago.

i think jeeps are mad to last, i own a 94 Grand Cherokee, with 254,000 miles, and it still runs great, ive had it for 3 years now, and i havnt had any problems with it. so i definitely would choose a jeep
