How can you find out if it's a true SS car?

How to reset remote car starter?

  • When i bought my car (used) 2 years ago it came with an Orbit car starter, I assume it is two-way. when i would push the start button it made a noise and when my car started, it would make another noise. For awhile I would really need to push on the buttons to get it to work, and i'd have to sorta move the remote around until it picked up the signal it seemed, but now it just doesn't work at all anymore. The little light on the fob still lights up and blinks when i push the buttons though. I took it to a mechanic shop and they gave me a sheet of paper that gave directions on how to reset car starteres ( a different brand but they said it might work, but it didnt) and then i went to my dealer where i originally bought the car, and they checked it all out, the fob is in perfect condition and the batteries are fine, so they don't know.. im assuming it needs to be reset? Does anyone have any other ideas? could someone explain to me how to reset an Orbit two way car starter? This is an older model i believe.. i can't find ANY like it anywhere... its silver with 5 buttons in total, lock, unlock, trunk, and car start then below those 4 is the red orbit button. as well as the buttons have a tiny number on the top left hand corner 1 to 4, in the same order as above(except the orbit button) I drive a 07 cobalt SS SC

  • Answer:

The best thing to do is to bring it back to the mechanic that installed it and have him explain how he fixed it in case it happens again. If the mechanic shows you something like that its customary to insist on tipping the mechanic, If he wont take it, then leave what you think is fair where he can see it underneath of a tool or something. always have mechanics give you the old parts they replace, and make sure they give you the new parts packaging(box, etc.) this will keep them from ripping you off. hope this helps
