Vauxhall cavalier running problem.

Vauxhall cavalier steering noise?

  • Hi, I have a 1991 vauxhall cavalier. Here's the problem - when I turn the steering wheel to the left, everything is fine, but when I turn it to the right (even just a tiny bit) I get a rough feeling through the steering wheel and a slight rumbling noise. Any suggestions as to what the cause could be would be helpful please. The noise is worse the faster I go but I can't decide whether it is consistant with road speed or engine revs.

Had a similar issue with an early Vectra, Check the level of the steering fluid. the filler is in the front of the engine bay quite low down on the drivers side ( I think ) Also check under you car for drips of fluid from the steering rack. You may have broken / worn seals or at worst a failing rack. I had to replace the whole rack...sounds expensive but was less than £200..... Good luck....
