What is K- series engine?

I have recently acquired a Rover 1.4,K-Series Engine, and want to know how to tell its Year of Manufacture?

  • This engine is a Rover 1.4 K-Series, 16valve, TOHC, SPI model. Never fitted to a Vehicle as it was sold in a cradle to a Technical college. I have no Manufacturer's Data and only some Numbers stamped at various locations on the Engine Casings. How do i find out what the numbers mean and equate them to a Model, Style,Modifications and especially it's Date of Birth?? Please help.

  • Answer:

You need the VIN #. Check out the hyper-links on this page @ http://ntl.bts.gov/faq/vin.html ; "A VIN number is a 17-character alphanumeric identifier or a manufacturer’s serial number. Each character in the VIN number has a significant meaning. Together, they create a number that tells everything about the vehicle and its unique history. " For the Rover, go to >> http://www.roverparts.com/How_to_Identify_Rover.cfm << .
