Should I buy a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo or 2002 Mazda Tribute?

Should I buy a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo or 2002 Mazda Tribute?

  • The Jeep has 70,524 miles on it and the dealership wants $7,995 for it. The Mazda has 82,124 miles on it and the dealership wants $9,415 for it. (Both come with a 3 month/3000 mile warranty) Any opinons about either one? Should I pay sticker price or negotiate? Also which will be cheaper to fix if something breaks?

  • Answer:

    Mazda transmissions are garbage.

I say the Jeep Cherokee b/c have the less miles and they are great vehicles. People say Mazda's are bad but I have a Mazda Protege 99 and I have not had one serious problem with it and it has 200,000 miles on it. But I still say the Cherokee b/c my friend bought one used and it ran great, she sold it and it still is in great condition. It is a 96. And of course negotiate!!!!!!!!!

First look for body damage. Ask for a report on the vehicle to see if either have been in accidents. Look for rust or any other dents or dings. If they are both in perfect condition i'd get the Jeep because of lesser miles. Mazdas cost way more to get things fixed on them. I'm sure you have a Jeep dealer closer to you than a Mazda dealer.

Jeep is a bad deal and so is the Mazda. With gas prices this high, I see 2006 Saturn Vue's and Pontiac Torrents for less than $10,000 and less than 40,000 miles. Get one of those car magazines at the entrance of supermarkets and pharmacies. They have cheap cars in their. If you insist on the Mazda or Jeep, get the Mazda.
