Brakes on a 1979 Pontiac LeSabre?

Brakes on a 1979 Pontiac LeSabre?

  • The car seems to lose breaking power intermittently, they are powered brakes. I tried pumping them but the peddle wouldn't come back up fast enough. It has had the master cylinder replaced several times, but like I said it just seems to do it whenever it feels like it, and I think it was just luck that it didn't happen right after it was replaced. Or maybe it did work but something else is destroying master cylinders..? What could be wrong? (Last night they failed on me. Right now the brakes work, but I didn't do anything to fix them.)

  • Answer:

The LeSabre is a Buick, not a Pontiac. Figure out what Pontiac you own or whether it indeed is a Buick LeSabre, then perhaps someone will be able to give you a more accurate answer.

You say it's had the master cyl. replaced several times, what is the common denominator? is it the same cap? the breather holes may be blocked (try running with cap removed or loose).
