Truck help! Whats an affordable 4X4 muddin' truck for a teenager?

I'm going on 17 and I am interested in getting a truck and getting rid of my little car, but I don't have a lot of money to spend. I have a lot of friends who like to go out mudding so i need something to keep up with 'em. Most of them aren't 4X4 so they get stuck a lot and I'd like something 4X4 with a V6 preferably. I refuse to buy a Chevy so a Dodge, GMC or Ford will do.I have about $6-$8000 saved but can't find anything. My sister had a 94' GMC 2500 that was 4x4 but i cannot get hers and cannot find one available for purchase, and in good condition. So any of yall got some suggestions? I'm out of ideas so I'll take anything.

So you Refuse to buy a Chevrolet but you will buy a GMC. A GMC is the same thing as a Chevy. They have the exact same chassis frame and drive-train. the only difference is cosmetic. For $8,000.00 you can buy a pretty nice truck, but mudding is pretty hard on trucks so I would not suggest that you spend to much money for a truck that you are going to just tear up. You should be able to buy a very capable 4X4 for around $2,000.00. It depends on if you want a full size truck or a mid-size truck for what is going to be better. for a smaller truck I would suggest a Toyota they are very well built and with a good set of tires and a good driver they can go most anywhere. If you want a full-size truck I would suggest either a Chevy(GMC) or a Ford. I would not suggest a Dodge they are not very good trucks.

What about a Jeep Cherokee with a 4.0 straight 6. Plenty of power and dependable. By the way Chevy/GMC same thing different grill and badges. Dakota with a V8 can be fun(have one for sale). I have a 07 Ford and often wonder who should be making the payments since the dealer has it a lot.
i would get a 95+up Toyota Tacoma V6.
