Why did you chose nursing as a career?

Should I pursue this as a career?

  • A few years ago, being a female and all, I chose to go to school for auto mechanics. It was relatively easy for me and I made good grades, but then I let a "boy" disrupt my life and I ended up dropping out. I am 24 now and I have a family, kids, etc. but I would like to go back and possibly do diesel mechanics this time. I am giving it serious thought because obviousley it is deemed a man's job and I am not the butch type, but I also do not want to sit at a desk and nursing school takes too much time and money. I do enjoy mechanics, but do you think it could actually be a rewarding career for a woman?

    i think you would find it rewarding not only because your a female, but because you enjoyed it. I started goin to hair school last winter and had to drop out because of my financial situalion and i regret it everyday. If i were in a situation like yours I WOULD GO BACK!!!

Do it now before your 34 and saying to yourself , " i wonder if I should have been a mechanic". Who cares if your a chick , i have seen many a guy that had no business working on cars. Too many people now Just start replacing parts instead of seeking out the problem first. WYOTECH has a good diesel program. In my opinion a woman who knows what is going on under the hood and can turn a wrench is smoking hot.

As long as you don't hate oil and dirt, you should be fine. Mechanics make $25,000-40,000. Only problems you might have is with strength when carrying wheels and tires and opening a very tight bolt without a power tool. But after time, you will get used to it and get stronger. It is a fast paced job that keeps you busy at work.

Doesn't matter if you are a woman or not, as long as you enoy that career. It will be more satisfying for you if you do.
