Porsche cayenne seats?

Should I get a Porsche Cayenne, Mercedes ML350, or Audi Q7? ?

  • We are planning on buying a new car sometime soon. We narrowed it down to these 3 cars. I know that VW owns Audi, and Porsche owns 50% of VW. I really want the Porsche Cayenne, cause its a porsche and it's nice. My Dad likes the Porsche and really likes the ML350. The Audi Q7 also has a lot of interior room. The thing is though, I heard it cost a lot of money for maintenece on the Porsche. I am not so sure about Audi or Mercedes either casue we have a Lexus, and 2 Nissans. So I was wondering what car would fit really good.

  • Answer:

Porsche owns 46% of VW and is planning on buying more. Porsche is planning on growing a lot. They are coming out with a sedan next year. The car of today is very different then the car of a few years ago, they are a lot more stable and have less of a tendency to break down. Yes, they are expensive to fix, but as I have found all European cars are a lot more expensive to fix then American cars, not only including the fact that the parts have to be shipped over. Don't be fooled by the fact that it looks like the VW car. Other then the outside, there is nothing else that is the same. The VW is a piece of junk that breaks down constantly and shouldn't even be on the market, so says my Porsche dealer. Yes, I have the Caynne, and I have never been happier with a car. I had a Lexus up until 3 weeks ago and I will admit that my 9 year old Lexus was in perfect shape and we only sold it for 2 reasons. The first was that it was 9 years old and the springs weren't perfect and I am disabled and most of my problems are in my back and I have to be very careful, and I would say mostly, I just wanted a new car. We do basically have what I call it 2 1/2 cars. We have one SUV and one small rag top and my Karman Gia, which should either be fixed, sold, or made into a planter. We did a lot of looking into SUV's as we really need an SUV. We live in NYC but have a second house in the Berkshires in an area that is not plowed in the winter and not well paved in the summer and that includes out rather long driveway. So, we are one of those couples that really need an SUV to get around, we find ourselves driving around on roads that aren't really roads, to have fun, so we needed a real 4-wheel drive. But as these cars use premium gas it gets expensive, and despite the catty comments about if you can afford it don't worry, it doesn't mean you want to spend your money on everything. The one thing about the Porsche is that you can slip out of the 4-wheel drive, one of the few cars you can do this with, other than the cars like the Suzuki. Yes, it has a very fancy high tech dashboard, and no, I have no idea of what most of the stuff means yet, but the car is new and have only driven around NYC so far. I knew I wanted the car the minute I put my foot on the accelerator. The power is incredible, but the control is right there. The other thing I really liked about the car is that you build your own car, it doesn't have to be that expensive as you think. It all depends on what you want. If you want it fully loaded, which is crazy, it is a lot, if you get it the way we did, sensibly, with just the things you need and a few extras, it's not that expensive. It came in at about what the Lexus did and a lot less than the Green Lexus, which is where we were heading to help save the ecology. Personally I like the look of the car, and so have all of our friends who are fighting to drive it. I've always wanted a Porsche, so now I have it, even if it isn't a sports car, it still goes as fast. I haven't tried the new Mercedes, but I tried the one that was out when we got our Lexus and I hated it. I notice on the streets that there are no Mercedes from that year left, but there are plenty of Lexus's from our original year, so that says something to me. I know there are a lot of people out there who are lovers of Audi's. I'm not one, so I never considered that car. According to the Porsche dealer there are only 2 cars to consider, the Porsche and the Lexus. So, I've given you all I know.

The Q7, Cayenne and Tourag are basically the same vehicle - built on the same assembly line. The ML is made in Alabama. Any of the above will cost a great deal more to run and maintain that the Lexus and two Nissans combined. Consider an Infinity FX or Lexus GX instead. http://www.infiniti.com/fx/index.html?dcp=ppi.16643762.&dcc=0.96526466 http://www.lexus.com/models/allModels/html_index.html

Yes, the Porsche Cayenne and the others cost a lot to maintain. I really suggest staying away from them. They have very sophisticated electronics that are very expensive to fix. They rank high in ownership costs and low in reliability ratings. If you want quality and reliability, stay with Lexus or try the Infiniti FX or Acura MDX.

Well I would personally go with Porsche. I don't know about maintanence prices, but Porsche is a great car company. Definately better than Mercedes and Audi. Oh and in my opinion, the Porsche looks much better than the other two. So I would go with the Porsche because it's the best for those reasons. Hope this helped.

Get a passat and me a jetta. lol But to really answer your question, what's the reason for the tough choice? You mentioned the maintenance on the Porsche. I can't confirm or deny that, as I've never been in that situation. But other then that, flip a coin between the other two. My answer would be which ever costs less, but if your in this class that advice doesn't seem like it would make a lot of sense.

You want performance: Porsche Cayenne You want practicality and luxury: Audi Q7 You want just luxury: Mercedes ML350 I would get the Porsche.

if your considering ANY of these money is probably not an issue. If so, the Porsche is the best of the three just on an on/off road/performance basis. I can't get past the looks though. It's just plain UGLY. If money IS an issue, stay FAR away. I have a buddy who owns an "S" version and I can go on and on about the problems he's had. The S has the air suspension that had multiple problems and ultimatelty replaced. To the tune of about $6k ! thank God it was still under warrantee.... the same car had a couple of other stupid failures like transmission control module. Wouldn't shift out of second gear. several radio failures. electric seat failures. Although I really like the ML, and Mercedes in general, there's a reason it always tests bottom of the list compared to the other SUV's in it's class. It's an OLD design... The Audi is a work of art. I understand they are actually quite reliable as well from reading through latest recalls data. Maybe not quite the off road vehicle as the Porsche but quattro in the snow is incredible. Some Hertz car rentals offer them through the premium car offerings. Rent one for a day and beat the snot out of it ! You'll be amazed !!!
