HELP! Ideal first diesel car...?

Hi i'm looking for a DIESEL first car which is low on insurance. I will be driving from nottingham to leeds everyday and im now 17. Need somthing what will do around 55-60+ Mpg wise. Any ideas? Ive looked at the Clio 1.5 DCI and quite like that. But need more ideas!

You need to get some idea of insurance costs. I think commuting on this scale will make insurers Very cautious and expensive do this before you buy a car. You'll have trouble getting a 2000 pound car that will do this journey day in day out without trouble. This is around 40,000 miles a year. As it costs 40 p per mile to run a car you will be spending a huge amount on travel (and polluting). Have you thought of moving to Leeds?
