Whatэs going on with my antifreeze coolant in my car?

WHy is my coolant/h20 disappearing?

  • Problems: Fans aren't running at ANY temp, Lose of coolant through surge tank overflow, No Heat (but has since been fixed) Temp at 3/4 MARK (NOT IN THE red ZONE OR OVERHEATED) I have a 1999 Olds Cutlass GLS, 3.1 v6 engine M , 164,255 miles. Okay I bought this vehicle 11/09 I've had Oil change, spark plug and wires change. THen transmission flush the next repair was pulley tensioner(it was rattling) and then the Coolant Air Bleed (it was trickling coolant). then exactly 10 days later, I drove the car about 4 minutes, sat idled for 10 min. went to take off and my low coolant light comes on (knowing it was just refilled when airbleed was repaired) temp is at 3/4 mark normally is at 1/2. too car home, it sat overnight, went and got more coolant filled it up. Noticed coolant airbleed trickling again. started car temps fine no light, didn't get a mile before low coolant light comes back, it was raining this day so I went to turn on heat and NONE temp went down just a nudge.............next morning look into surge tank--NOTHING. fill it up with water let vehicle run for 10 min, light illuminates temp upto 3/4 mark. NEVER OVERHEATS. SO I goto autozone and pickup H20 pump and Coolant temp sensor. Install sensor and heat works~!!! (yay) next day change waterpump (no more trickles from coolant airbleed) at this point as long as I kept the surgetank cap loose I was able to keep fluid in it, but once waterpump was change coolant goes through overflow. I drove the car for a mile shut off car then drove back home another mile. when I pulled into parking space at this point I have steam and you can hear boiling atthe surgetank. Let car cool Next we change the thermostat. car water boils and ejects through overflow within 4 minutes of startup. I drove car less than a 1/4 mile and parked (engine not running) for 2 hours. started car.......... Low Coolant light illuminates. I had someone tell me straight off the bat that it's the head gasket BUT that is w/o having a pressure test that I am unable to afford for the next 2 weeks. He claimed that my firewall was wet but didn't say which side. I'm thinking Head Gasket or Air in Cooling system from it going EMPTY then filing with coolant. My car is not exhibiting: Antifreeze in engine oil or in filler cap WHite smoke from exhaust no abnormal water in exhast (other than the occasional sprinkle from condensation) no sweet smelling exhaust no wet carpet on either driver or passengerside
