Is it safe to shift from d to d3 while cruising at high speed?

What is wrong with my 2006 Volvo?

  • I drive an automatic 2006 Volvo S60 2.5T, AWD. When I am cruising after letting go of the gas, I feel such a drag, almost as if i am braking slightly. You can feel the car slow down so much, especially when going down-hill where i should be picking up free speed. This does not happen if i shift into neutral while cruising. When shifted to neutral, the car picks up, as if someone let go of the brakes. I don't feel this quick deceleration in other cars. Whats going on here?

    try taking it to a transmission shop and getting a flush.the trans filter might be clogged.
